As I told most of you when I started

I was pretty sure I wasn't going to finish this in November. If it had been January I may have succeeded. November is a pretty hectic month for me since I do all my holiday shopping before Thanksgiving and send packages and design Loki calendars and holiday cards. Not to mention Thanksgiving itself. And this year I made homemade jigsaw puzzles. I wonder why they pick November instead of January or something. That seems odd, doesn't it? Nobody has anything to do in January. A lot of people don't even have any money to spend.

I suppose I could cheat as some people do by doing everything in January and keeping track of my daily word count or something, but the idea is that you have some kind of support group helping out throughout November. Unfortunately I've given up online socializing so I would have time to write so that doesn't do much for me. So cheating doesn't really apply since the whole point is just to motivate you.

That would be like changing your diet to go down a dress size so you could qualify for a reality show that will help you change your diet! Why bother?

I will sign up again, though, without any intention of participating, because they have these famous writers send you email about writer's block. That's the main reason I got talked into signing up.

Anyhoo, I got up to about 12000 words in a spiral notebook. I just got my ASUS EEE laptop (I LOVE My EEE!) so I was working on typing it in the warmth of my livingroom instead of the cold of my office (erm... spare bedroom) about an hour ago when I decided to take a break and answer some email and post this.

I started writing the story out of order after chapter 1. If I had posted in order you would have found out whodunnit before Loki did. Then I wrote all the Loki and Mayday scenes. Also out of order. I'll be working on it some more this month. I may post more chapters when they appear in order. I won't post the ending, though. You'll have to buy the book!

On the bright side, the new Best Friends book should be out in color in January.
